FSX SP1 Released

Written by nelson on May 16, 2007 – 7:56 am -

the long-awaited SP1 update has been released for FSX!!! download it HERE.

for a thorough rundown of what was addressed, visit Phil Taylor’s blog.

We think SP1 is going to deliver the goods for most users, and will reward users with better hw the most. We expect that, except in the very, very low-end hw, all users should see a 20% gain. Some scenarios will see 40%, and some will see a bit more. It’s really going to depend on a lot of variables. We hope this enables users to either fly at the same settings with greater FPS, or to bump the sliders up 1 or 2 ticks and still get the same FPS you had.

Flight Sim Desk (Concept)

Written by nelson on May 9, 2007 – 2:45 pm -

sheesh!!! my desk is a complete and utter mess right now. in search of some relief, i scoured the internet looking for a potential replacement for my 16-year-old piece of furniture. i came across some rather nice workstations, and some made specifically for flight simmers like myself. the problem is that they are EXTREMELY expensive. so i’ve decided that i’m going to make my own.

click on the picture above and you’ll see my concept for a desktop cockpit. it’s nothing fancy, but it’s functional and practical. basically, i wanted ample space for all my peripherals AND i wanted them to be easily accessible. plus, the simpler the design, the easier it should be to build, right? F-22 Raptor

Written by nelson on May 2, 2007 – 12:27 pm -

continuing on with the theme of fighter jets, this is a great piece of ex-payware (now freeware) from Iris Simulations. i had considered purchasing the AlphaSim F-22 until i found this. the graphics and flight dynamics are excellent, and you can’t complain about the price!!!

F-14A and USS Enterprise

Written by nelson on May 1, 2007 – 10:41 am -

i’ve taken a break from flying the “heavy metal,” and i’ve jumped back into the cockpit of some of my favorite military fighter jets. this is a video of the F-14A Tomcat by Iris Simulations. i launched off of the USS Enterprise (by AlphaSim) and made a quick circuit around for a tense landing on the Big-E.
