carputer v2.0 version 2.0 saw the addition of a
Lilliput touchscreen monitor and DeLorme GPS navigation. with a touchscreen
now in place, it made more sense to use frontend software to control and
access everything. i chose MediaCar because it had a good interface with
large buttons. lastly, an auxilliary input was added to feed all audio from
the carputer to the factory stereo system.
i wired in a power button up front,
easily accessible from the driver's seat. this allows me to turn on the
carputer and put it into hibernation. additionally, i added a connection
in-line that allows the power button to be disconnected from the docking
station, just in case the docking station needs to be removed.
the DeLorme GPS mouse came out of the box
in a bright yellow color. i wanted it to be a little less conspicuous, so i
painted it black.
